Hi, new to swirling and I'm suffering from skin when I apply my first colour. Not got my hands on Humbrol yet, I'm using Revell as the shop round the corner sells it. Any obvious reasons for skin even with the Humbrol?

It could be several different causes, water temp, not enough borax, incompatable paint....My last attempt , with Humbrol paints,& what I thought was a right borax/water mixture, turned out horribly.Satin white base coat, colors I have used before, etc, it should have worked, but...no.
I think my biggest problem was not the wrong WATER TEMP(76F), but I did it in bright sunlight, and the sunlight caused it to dry prematurely.
Maybe.
It's still quite a hit'rmiss kind of thing, I'm going to try some Krylon brush on paint I saw on another post here, I picked up 12-13 bottles at a yard sale a few months ago, all for a dollar! At least it's worth a try, and cheap too !

About Me

My name is Tony and I am a Web Developer by trade, I created this site after I recieved huge numbers of emails about my GMC swirl YouTube video on how to swirl a guitar to look like a Steve Vai Ibanez Jem.

I have been a fan of swirled guitars since seeing the first GMC in the Ibanez brochure, unfortunatly I could never afford one so went about figuring out how it was done. When I started swirling I was living in Guernsey and I bought a mahogany Jem body which is the one in the first GMC video.
